Pride Cinema Screening: God’s Own Country

Johnny Saxby (Josh O’Connor) works from dawn to dusk on his parents’ remote farm. He takes out his frustration caused by loneliness by consuming destructive amounts of alcohol in the local pub and having casual sex. When an attractive Romanian farmhand, Gheorghe (Alec Secareanu), arrives at the farm, Johnny is confronted with emotions he has never felt before. During lambing season, the two begin to work together more and more intensively, and their fateful relationship begins to develop with equal intensity, which could change both their lives forever. God’s Own Country is a compelling and hauntingly beautiful debut by Francis Lee, set against the backdrop of rural Yorkshire.

Edison Filmhub is a single-screen cinema with a café in the center of Prague. They enjoy European art films, but they wouldn’t turn our noses up at a Hollywood blockbuster either. If you love all the flavors of cinema like they do, you’ve found a new home.
