Letters to a Queer Home
This activity gives you the chance not only to experience the festival — but to become a part of it by offering a piece of your authentic self. At Pride Café, you’ll find a week-long reflective and creative installation titled “Letters to a Queer Home”. It invites you to write a personal letter — to yourself, to a place where you never felt at home, or to the dream of a home your heart still longs for.
Once your letter is written, slip it into the Pride Mailbox — an artfully decorated postbox made just for this occasion. You can submit your letter anonymously, sign it with your name, or pin it to the Wall of Words and share it with others to read.
A cozy writing station will be set up with papers, envelopes, pens, postcards, stickers, washi tape, and thought-provoking prompts to help guide your reflection.
Your letter can be addressed to:
- A dream home where you feel safe and fully accepted
- Your past self — from a difficult or limiting time
- Your future self — filled with hope and healing
- A person you lost, left, or still miss
- A place that no longer exists — or never did
- A person who once felt like home
- A body that didn’t use to feel like yours
- A city, a room, a community
- A vision of home that’s still waiting for you
