NOTEBOOKS MADE OF RAINBOW FLAGS BY LEMNISKÁTA

This notebook was born out of a desire for change. Its cover is made from paper crafted from flags that once flew at the Prague Pride Festival and beyond—flags that no longer met the criteria for a flawless appearance. They were stained or torn, bearing the marks of a long struggle for equal rights for LGBTQ+ people.

At the Papyrea handmade paper mill, a family-run manufactory in the Podještědí region, these flags were given a new purpose. Here, paper is created using the traditional method of dipping a screen into natural fibers—in this case, hemp fibers—with deep respect for both the craft and the material.

The paper then received its final form at the Lemniskáta sheltered workshop. This is a place where people with various types of disabilities create with an emphasis on quality, sustainability, and meaningful work. Every product here is made with the belief that a sheltered workshop can succeed in the commercial market while remaining a safe and supportive space for those who create within it.
