Robert Vano – The Final Retrospective

The retrospective exhibition Robert Vano presents nearly 150 black-and-white and color photographs, most of them never before published. It captures seventy years of life and over fifty years of artistic work by one of the most prominent figures in both Czech and international photography. The exhibition is also exceptional in another way—it marks Robert Vano’s final solo show, symbolically closing his long and prolific creative career.
The exhibition takes you from New York through Milan and Paris to Prague—the city Robert Vano has called home for more than three decades. On display are his iconic portraits, male nudes, poetic still lifes, and works created using the rare platinum print technique, known for its extraordinary durability, soft tonal range, and striking depth.
The show also includes previously unseen photographs from the 1970s and ’80s, his latest work inspired by the aesthetics of Miroslav Tichý and Sarah Moon, as well as personal archival materials, audio and video recordings, podcasts, and the documentary Robert Vano – The Story of a Man by director Adolf Zika. Visitors are offered a comprehensive view of the artist’s work and life—a man who remained true to his style and now bids farewell to the world of photography in grand fashion.
