Banu

DJ and electronic music producer Banu works across music, sound installations, and artistic research, using sound as a tool for activism. Raised within the underground rave scene of southeastern Türkiye and now based in Berlin, Banu creates analogue synthesizer compositions driven by fresh grooves. Their live sets blur the boundaries between music and sound art through immersive sound design. Believing in the political power of sound, Banu uses music to amplify marginalised voices, with a particular focus on BIPOC and LGBTQI+ people.

Banu has performed at renowned Berlin clubs including Berghain, as well as major venues and festivals across Europe, Africa, and Latin America, such as Bassiani Tbilisi, Modular Cape Town, and D-Edge in Rio de Janeiro. DJ Mag named their work among the Top Albums of 2022, while Clot Magazine and other media have also recognised their music. Banu has received several artist residencies, including the Electric Desert programme for emerging music producers in Namibia, and is a resident of Refuge Worldwide Radio in Berlin.
