Mezipatra: Bearcave Film Screening

Mysterious Argyro lives a quiet life on a remote farm nestled in the enchanting landscape of the Greek mountains. All she needs to be happy is her small herd of goats, dark beats in her headphones, and her quirky best friend Anneta, the most beautiful girl in the village. But their lifelong friendship suffers an unexpected blow. Anneta is pregnant and moving away — very soon. Can the girls come to terms with the separation, or will they dare to confront the true depth of their relationship?
This fresh take on a coming-of-age story deftly avoids genre clichés while blending Balkan folklore, authentic performances, and a sultry summer romance into a captivating portrait of how it feels to grow up queer in the middle of nowhere. Special mention should also go to the film’s hauntingly atmospheric cinematography, which highlights the mystical beauty of Greek nature.
The feature debut by Stergios Dinopoulos and Krysianna Papadakis premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, where it won the Europa Cinemas Label Award.
