Fanny, a shy and lonely teenager, travels to Germany for a language exchange program. In Leipzig, she meets her pen pal Lena, who is the same age and eager to get involved in political activism. To impress Lena, the introverted Fanny invents an alternative version of her life—but soon finds herself trapped in a web of lies.
French director Claire Burger first drew attention with her debut Party Girl (2014), which won awards at the Cannes Film Festival. Her second film, Real Love (2018), also received critical acclaim and earned her the Best Director award at the Venice Film Festival.
After the screening, a discussion follows titled “Queer Radicals”, hosted by PINKBUS, an artistic platform championing young queer creatives and bringing a wave of new expression to the Czech Republic. The discussion will be held in Czech language.
