Finding Home In Your Body, For Queer Youth

Living in a queer body can be challenging. Minority stress, family and social conditions are some of the factors that can lead us to cut ourselves off from our somatic awareness and distrust or become unaware of the wisdom that we have inside. We may find we are in our heads, live in the past or future, get stuck in moods, have a hard time giving or accepting love or setting boundaries, or are unable to fully feel ourselves or make decisions that align with what we care about.
Join us for this 1.5 hour workshop in which we will explore why and how we disconnect from our bodies and learn practical strategies to help us get back in touch with ourselves, so that we can live with dignity and find more peace, joy, and connection.
Maximum 16 participants. For youth 16-21 years old. English/Czech
A similar workshop for trans* adults is called Finding Home In Your Body, For Trans* Adults.
The workshop is hosted by:
Glynis Hull-Rochelle (she/they) – a longtime activist in many justice movements, the co-founder of Queer & Trans Youth, and a somatic therapist and somatic coach. She facilitates sbarvouven.cz support groups and groups for survivors of sexualized violence, as well as programs combining art, sound, movement and contemporary circus techniques for wellbeing. She teaches somatics to activists for individual and collective transformation. In Prague for 30+ years, Glynis speaks fluent Czech.
Haru (they/them) – active in Queer & Trans Youth, where they provide peer-to-peer consultations, co-coordinate the project, and facilitate regular online and offline gatherings—both support-oriented and social. They are also a visual artist and currently studying special education. Outside of QTY, they facilitate support groups within Trans*parent. Their work focuses on community building and creating safer spaces for queer, trans, and neurodivergent people.
Entrance fee – free
Accessibility – suitable for teenagers and people under 21 years old
Vibe check – small event (approx. 30 people), quiet (no loud music, shouting, etc.), requires interacting with the audience or other attendees, seating options, indoors
Trigger warnings – We will be touching on mental health issues. While it will be a supportive space, it is not a replacement for therapy and each participant will be expected to be aware of their own capacity and manage how deep they want to go into their own personal issues.
