As an adult, he decides to leave. He changes his name, writes about his childhood, and becomes a&nbsp;celebrated author. By telling the stories that were never spoken of at home, he establishes himself as one of the most influential voices in contemporary French literature.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"block\n  block--core-paragraph\n  block--align-none\n      \">\n  \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But his success transforms more than his own life. By making his story public, he offers his mother the chance to leave as well and begin again.
