In Georgia, in the bustling streets of Tbilisi, LGBT+ rights are gradually being curtailed amid a creeping atmosphere of growing Russian influence. Still, many stay and continue to fight for their freedom and future.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Somewhere in the Caucasus is a documentary portrait of Nutsa and Shako \u2013 two ordinary people who have never met, yet share a deep connection to their homeland and a determination to face increasingly difficult conditions. A sensitive glimpse into the struggles and joys of two ordinary lives in extraordinary times.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The short film premiere will be followed by a discussion featuring the film protagonists. Both the film and the discussion will be in English.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Guests<\/strong>
Nutsa Kiliptari<\/strong> – a Georgian feminist and queer activist committed to defending human rights and fighting discrimination. She works with Tbilisi Pride, focusing on supporting the LGBT+ community in a society marked by deep-rooted homophobia and political pressure. Her work combines advocacy, community support, and public education with the aim of increasing visibility and safety for queer people in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Shako Demetrashvili<\/strong> – Content Strategist and Digital Storyteller based in Tbilisi, Georgia. He
blends sharp instincts and deep emotions with raw human insight. Raised on resilience, driven by truth, and never afraid to challenge norms, with a sweet tooth, baking skills, and unconditional love for animals to keep it all soft.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Host<\/strong>
Jose Castorena<\/strong> – a production student at DAMU who is active in the field of film and cultural projects. He has a longstanding interest in politics and civic engagement, which also led him to travel to Georgia, where he had the opportunity to gain a close-up understanding of the local situation.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>\n\n\n
