The charity Člověk v tísni (People In Need) has been organising the One World: International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival  since 1999. Over the years, it has become one of the world’s most important festivals of this type. More than one hundred documentaries about human rights issues are shown at One World every year, in Prague and many other Czech cities. The festival is also the force behind two year-round programmes: You Screen It! – an alternative community distribution – and the new online film platform, jedensvetonline.cz.

Each year, Mezipatra Queer Film Festival presents around one hundred Czech and foreign films about LGBTQ+ subjects, along with their creators. The films are judged both by the viewers and a professional jury as part of the prestigious international competition for international films, and the accompanying discussions, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and parties are an essential part of the programme. The festival mainly runs in Prague and Brno in November, with some screenings in selected Czech towns.
