If it wasn’t for his bad habit of minor thefts, young Parvis would continue living in a German town enjoying wild parties and all sorts of experimentation. He has been sentenced to do community service at a refugee centre to help with his rehabilitation. But the son of Iranian immigrants begins to get closer to the shy Amon, who recently escaped from Iran with his sister Banafshe Arezu. The trio is enjoying a seemingly carefree summer, but the relationship between Parvis and Amon is going beyond mere friendship…
This colourful story about conspiratorial closeness, trust and the need to belong deservedly won this year’s Teddy Award. One of the reasons being the central question of the story which is highly relevant: can a foreign country ever become a genuine home for the young protagonists?
The film is in German with Czech and English subtitles.
The screening takes place in the courtyard of the Karlín Barracks. In case of rain, it moves to the Garages.
The film is screened as part of the Identity in the City program, which presents the Mezipatra queer film festival during the Prague Pride Festival.
Every year, the Mezipatra Queer Film Festival presents around a hundred Czech and foreign films with LGBTQ+ themes and their creators. The films are awarded by an expert jury within the prestigious international competition of international films, but also by spectators. An integral part of the program are the accompanying discussions, lectures, workshops, exhibitions and parties. The main part of the festival takes place in Prague and Brno in November and in the form of echoes in selected cities in the Czech Republic.
